Tips To Help You Build A Cheap Dresser

Sometimes buying a brand new, fancy dresser is just out of the question. In these situations, we just have to roll up our sleeves and built our own cheap dresser. First we need to head out to the local hardware store to grab a few supplies. You need plywood, storage bins, screws, a drill, a saw, a tape measure, sand paper and oh yes, a friend to help you out. Once you have all of your materials in place, its time to get started.

Now pull out the saw and let’s cut some plywood. You want to cut 5 pieces per chest of drawer. You also need to cut the back, the sides and the top. Once you have all the pieces cut you will need to assemble them. Assemble them in the way that you will be putting them together the next you will be screwing them together.

It is a good idea to use wood screws so you won’t split the wood. Lay the back piece on the ground and have your handy helper hold one of the sides in place. Then you would take your drill and screw that piece in. Then go to the other side and do the same thing. Now you should have a back and two sides.

Turn it over and screw the floor piece in to give it more form. At this point you should see where you will be placing your drawers. Go around and sand all of the edges to make sure they are smooth so no one will get hurt on those sharp edges.

Now you are basically done. But the drawers in and make sure they are working properly. If you want, you can now paint or stain the wood whatever color you want it to be. You now have a cheap dresser that you built all by yourself. And chances are you said hundreds of dollars in the process. If you have any left over wood have a little fun with it and see what else you can create. You never know, you might be able to built other furniture pieces together for cheap as well.
